The Log Manager |

|
The Log Manager is the heart of Multi User. If set up correctly you will never know it is working but if you do need to make any changes then the Log Manager is where those changes take place.
All the Log Manager is, is a window that shows you what machines could be connected to the network and when any synchronisation has taken place. It handles everything automatically so is really no different to viewing a list of Clients. But in the background it is working away ensuring that all the machines are sent the latest data.
The first thing to understand is that this window will not always appear identical to that shown above. The screenshot above shows the master controller window (note that B100 in the title bar should be B000 - this is a simulation only) and has all the facilities available. On all other sites, much of the functionality is disabled as all that is needed is the ability to manually import or export files. In general, only the master administrator would ever need to use these facilities.
The top window will show what sites are registered with the current machine. Normally there would be 2 entries per machine and basically shows a record of when files have been created and transmitted. The file transfers specifically are listed in the left smaller window.
So in the above example we have 2 machines. These are B000 and B100. So with 2 entries per machine and 2 machines we end up with 4 records. These are:
B000 > B000 This is the site record for the B000 machine B000 > B100 This is the connection between B000 and B100 where information is sent FROM the B000 TO the B100 machine B100 > B000 This is the connection between B000 and B100 where information is sent FROM the B100 TO the B000 machine B100 > B100 This is the site record for the B100 machine
The following buttons are only available to the master administrator:
The following buttons are available to everyone:
In normal operation the only buttons you will ever probably use will be the Create Site button and the Process button to manually kick off a data transfer if the automated sequence does not fit in with your schedule otherwise the timer will control the function of the Process button. |
