Starting up the B100 machine

Top  Previous  Next

You will need to follow these steps each time you have created a new site at the master machine.

1. Start Barefoot Manager on the B000 machine.

2. Start Barefoot Manager on the B100 machine.

3. On the B000 machine go into the Log Manager and click Process.

4. When complete go the B100 machine log manager and click Process. You will know when the process routine has finished as the timer will have been suspended and will restart when processing is complete.

You may now see a warning sign. This is simply to let you know that Multi User has detected a new site has been added. Click Yes to continue.

Site added on B100

So long as your settings are correct then you should see the following window in the Log Manager.

LM on B100 after first process

This has now shown that the B100 machine has successfully communicated with the B000 machine. We know that because there are now 4 entries as shown above.

In the order shown these represent the connections between the machines as follows:

B000 > B000        This is the site record for the B000 machine

B000 > B100        This is the connection between B000 and B100 where information is sent FROM the B000 TO the B100 machine

B100 > B000        This is the connection between B000 and B100 where information is sent FROM the B100 TO the B000 machine

B100 > B100        This is the site record for the B100 machine

Although you do not need to know much about these you do need to check each connection to verify the settings are correct. To do that simply double click on each in turn or highlight and press Change on the Log manager window.

edit site

The first thing we recommend is that you modify the Sitename/Relationship field. This is purely a description but you might want to change that to reflect the connection.

For the B000 > B000 record you might call that "Master User machine"

For the B000 > B100 record you might call that "Master to Sandra"

For the B100 > B000 record you might call that "Sandra to Master"

For the B100 > B100 record you might call that "Sandras machine"

For the B000 > B000, B000 > B100 and B100 > B100 records you will probably not need to change the Email Address. However for the B100 > B000 record you will probably need to change the email address.

The email address is the address of the machine you are sending the information TO.

In the case of B000 > B000 this would be something like b000@ambritsoftware.com

In the case of B000 > B100 this would be something like b100@ambritsoftware.com because B000 is sending information TO B100

In the case of B100 > B000 this would be something like b000@ambritsoftware.com because B100 is sending information TO B000, This is the record that will probably need the email address entered.

In the case of B100 > B100 this would be something like b100@ambritsoftware.com

Once you have changed these settings all that is now required is to test Multi User. From this point on you will very rarely need to go into the Log Manager and you will use the system as normal with Multi user running in the background.
