Introducing the Log Manager

Top  Previous  Next

The Log Manager is the heart of Multi User and handles all the transporting of inform to and from the other sites. Although the process is automated there is a lot that can be overriden here.

Every time the system starts the Log Manager is launched. Equally it is normally only ever closed when the system closes which again is automated.

When the Log Manager starts up the following message appears.

log manager warning

You have the choice to skip this message if you prefer.

If you have a firewall running then you MUST allow access to the Log Manager.

Once access to the Log Manager has been provided it will remain running on the taskbar. This is represented by a small icon as shown below.

Sometimes if there are too many services running in the task bar then the log manager icon will be hidden. Clicking on the small up arrow to the left of the icon above will reveal a full list of services running on the machine as shown below. The Log Manager will be one of these.

To get access to the Log Manager itself simply right click on the icon on the taskbar to reveal the following menu. A left click will actually open the main Log Manager window.

Important note: If you click on Exit the Log Manager will close and no data transfer will take place. You should get into the habit of simply allowing the Log Manager to run on the taskbar and allow the program itself to control when it is opened and closed. In that way data transfers will take place as planned.

The menu items above are shortcuts to some of the main processes you might wish to control. The main Log Manager window appears below and is described in full elsewhere.

For now we need to continue to the next step and that is verifying the connection settings for the various transportation methods.
