Connecting to Quickbooks for the first time

Top  Previous  Next

IMPORTANT NOTE: You cannot connect to Quickbooks unless Quickbooks is running with a Company File open. See Common Problems for more information.

Before you can do anything you need to connect to your Company file. Quickbooks will recognise that you are trying to connect to your company file for the first time and ask you to complete a short wizard. Please note that this will happen every time you try to connect to a new company file for the first time.

Access to the utility is currently from either the View Client, or View Item screens. This wizard will be shown each time you try to connect to Quickbooks depending on how you complete the prompts that follow.

The first step is to open Quickbooks with the company file that contains the information you require to import. Once open you can start this utility. It will immediately detect that this is the first time that the file has been connected to and provide you with the screen below. Complete as shown and press Continue. We advise that you select "whenever the company file is open" and check "access personal data".

Congratulations, you will now be able to connect to the company file. You will not need to complete this wizard again unless you attempt to connect to a different company file.
