Changing the Master Files

Top  Previous  Next

In order to change the master file you need to be aware of the power of the form and the underlying principles. Remember at all times that we are not doing anything other than changing the basic form which we will ultimately save as another file for everyday use.

By referring to the screenshot below we will explain the basic principles:

General Consent

The basic form has been set up for a particular reason. Note how we have put the address on a line of it's own. This is to satisfy the formatting that will take place at a later stage without affecting anything else.

As will be immediately apparent there are a lot of % statements on the form. These are called Variables. For example there is a variable called %date%. Now a Consent Form is actually mail merge document in it's purest form. So when we add a consent form to a treatment record it will automatically enter the date onto the form. The same applies to %client%. It will replace %client% with the name of the client. The same will happen for every variable on the form. You get to choose what variables you use of course. These are listed in the section consent form variables.

To enter a variable click on the drop down box at the top of the form to reveal a list of the variables. Select a variable you wish to use and now right click in the form where you want the variable placed. Alternatively you can paste the variable using the standard CTRL/V. Note that the variable is retained in memory until another is selected so you can add the same variable multiple times on the form very easily.
